At Ivy Forest we strive to slow things down and give children the time and space they need to explore and discover. We conform to the child’s sense of time.

Parents and children are encouraged to arrive between 8:30-9am to allow time for a gentle transition. Often this is a lovely chance to snuggle together in the house/yurt and read a story before saying goodbye.
We start the morning with circle time as a chance for us to share seasonal songs and finger rhymes. We will then have a short story and discussion about the day. The rest of the morning will be spent in the forest digging, building, running, exploring and dreaming. Literacy and numeracy will be learned in a natural way through environmental experiences in the forest.
Mid-morning we will have a simple snack of fresh fruit, whole grains and berry tea to nourish and rejuvenate. As the morning comes to a close we will return to the house/yurt to wash hands and listen to a seasonal story, often based upon our explorations from the morning. We will then sit together to eat lunch.
Following lunch is a chance for everyone to peacefully rest, perhaps listening to a book being read aloud, or snuggling with a favorite toy and drifting off to sleep. As everyone starts to rise children will be offered the chance to sip some fresh berry tea and play together.
We ask parents to collect their children at 2:30pm.
