Sensory Play – Water

This week in our sensory tray we have bubbly water.  I added some animals (penguins and frogs!), some large, smooth rocks, little metal cups and some droppers.

The children love diving beneath the bubbles to see what they can find below.  Storytelling has already begun, with the penguins being the main characters!

I am seeing so much benefit from using these droppers.  I saw a few of the children really struggled with them last week during our color mixing activity.   We had used them sporadically in the past, but I realised that these children would really benefit from more practise, to also develop their fine motor skills.

It is great to see the children explore with these droppers.  The water play is such an incentive. I noticed that for some children the concept of how they work has not yet been grasped.  I decided that perhaps some larger droppers would be beneficial for more exploration – I am off to search for some turkey basters this afternoon!
