Color Mixing – Filter Painting

Standard

Further explorations into color, this time with filters.  The children were offered marker pens (a treat as we do not usually have markers on offer), large filters and some droppers.

By marking on the filters and then dropping water on top you get to watch the colors mix.  For some colors you also get to see the the colors separate (black is great for this).

The children got very involved in exploring mark making, and how different marks change when water is dropped on them.

This was such a great activity for the children to explore independently, and one that can be offered for independent exploration another day.

When they were dry the filters made wonderful sun catchers!
