Review – Sparkle Stories

A friend recently introduced us to Sparkle Stories. Do you know it?

Oh, it has been such a wonderful find.

They are written and produced by a Waldorf inspired family in Vermont.  Most of the stories are read by the father, who was in fact a Waldorf teacher!  New stories are uploaded each week and follow a certain theme.

My daughter adores the ones about Martin and Sylvia and looks forward to the new story that arrives each Friday.  She talks about Martin and Sylvia throughout the week as if they are her dear friends. Actually sometimes it seems as if they have become a part of our family!  She loves to spend time getting herself ready on the couch – blankets, cushions, dolly etc.  Then she will sit transfixed as she listens to the story.

David, the storyteller really is captivating.  He has a wonderful calmness that engages us all.  He is certainly a very talented and inspiring storyteller.  I have come to realise that these stories bring us so much more than the 20 minutes of actual listening.  They are also encouraging us to develop our own storytelling skills.  They are encouraging us to explore our imaginations further.  And they are reminding us how important it is to slow down……and listen!
